Environmentally friendly packaging to protect your products and for their shipment
As a general rule, the best plastic bag or carton is and remains the one that is saved. Because only those who use little conserve resources. Sustainable packaging therefore also includes the question of how much packaging material is really necessary. Packaging made of ecologically beneficial materials is a sensible and necessary alternative to conventional plastics (plastic). It is not a matter of imposing a certain lifestyle on other people with a raised forefinger, but of doing as little damage as possible to our environment.
Paper packaging is always a good choice. This is because paper consists of renewable raw materials, which are ideally even sustainably managed. The recycling rate is significantly higher compared to plastic packaging. However, about 676 kilograms of CO2 are emitted per ton of paper and cardboard packaging. This is rather low compared to other types of packaging, but still not negligible.
As a further alternative, we offer a whole range of products under Nordwerk GREEN that are made from environmentally friendly, more sustainable films. These so-called bio-films can be used in a variety of ways, both as product packaging and as shipping packaging.
Nordwerk GREEN includes all packaging that does as little harm as possible to the environment, both in production and disposal. This includes biodegradable packaging, which is made from natural raw materials and returns to nature after disposal. Ecologically more advantageous packaging in this series is also packaging that is made to a large extent from recycled materials or renewable raw materials.
BIOBASED products according to ASTM D6866
BIOLOGICALLY DEGRADABLE products according to DIN EN 13432 are distinguished between
Degradable: The degradable packaging composts in the soil to 90% within a maximum of 24 months.
Home compostable: The home compostable packaging composts under the conditions of professional, home composting. In addition, it decomposes without residue in the soil to 90% within a maximum of 12 months.
Industrially compostable: The industrially compostable packaging composts under the conditions of professional, industrial recycling without residues to 90% within a maximum of 6 months.

Another sensible alternative for more environmental protection and sustainability can be the use of our mailing bags made of PCR film. PCR in this context means "post-consumer-resin" material. In German: they consist to a large extent of recycled material. For this reason, the film quality is generally inferior to that of 1A goods. For applications where look and feel is not a main criterion, these bags are definitely a sustainable alternative. Under our Nordwerk ECO brand, we carry many other types of packaging that are made largely or entirely of recycled material and yet fully meet the technical requirements of trade and industry and are recyclable.
